14U Nationals Preview: Top Point Guards

Chew Will Be Driving The Team Nelson Train In Orlando?

The 14U AAU Nationals will be underway in a few days so we decided to breakdown some of the top players that will be making the trip to Orlando. Here’s a peek at some of the top floor generals to keep an eye out for.

Top Point Guards

Nazier Chew (Team Nelson)- Chew is undeniable the top pure point guard in the region. He changes the game with his speed, ball handling and decisions with the rock. This season he has taken his production to another level. TCA landed a good one in Nazier.

Shavar Newkirk (Team Scan)- Newkirk could also be regarded as one of the top quarterbacks. He changes speeds great and has good body control when entering the lane. Shavar already had a high school guard’s mentality in terms of setting the tempo and running the show.

Austin Tilghman (Youth Interlock)- Austin seems to get better at this position each time out. He picked his spots well in terms of attacking and tries to get all his teammates involved. This should be a good spot for Tilghman to play in high school.

Shaquan Worthy (Team NJ ABC)- Worthy is probably the quickest end to end with the pill. He gets inside the teeth of the defense rather easy and has a nice floater in his arsenal. His speed will be needed in a big way in Orlando.

Anthony Williams (Juice All Stars)- Williams gets over shadowed because of some of his big name teammates but the kid can go. He makes sure the rock is distributed equally and goes hard on the defensive end. His play will be greatly needed for Juice to make a serious run.

Marquis Rowe (Future Players)- Rowe is the engine that pushes FP. I like his pull up in the lane and how he can get his shots off over shot blockers. He should have the PV squad in a good position to win throughout the tournament.
