CLASH FOR THE CUP MIXTAPES: INTRODUCING MOUSSIA CISSE!

Moussia Cisse

8th Grader Moussia Cissé made his mark this weekend to be the #1 PF in the country, and even snuck his way into discussion of being a top 5 prospect in the class. Moussia abused the defense all weekend on the post and showed off his unlimited motor and drive for the game. Cissé takes no plays off and sets a good example for what it means to play with passion. Moussia helped lead his team to a championship game against a very tough Team Takeover where they won 29-50. Moussia tallied 12 Pts in the contest.

CLASH FOR THE CUP MIXTAPES: ANTONIO SELLERS SHINES BRIGHT!

Sellers Shines In The Spotlight!

7th Grader Antonio Sellers is a smooth 2022 G/F who has a great feel for the game at a young age. Sellers showed off his deep range while also displaying improved court vision which in the long run helped his team reach the championship. Sellers can throw off an offense at this age because he is able to bring up the ball and help set the offense while also being able to battle down low with the bigs. Antonio has a tremendous upside and should be name to follow for years to come. Sellers left the 2017 Basketball Spotlight Clash For The Cup with the championship trophy posting 13 points over an elite New World AAU squad. Stay Tuned As We Bring You More From This Event.

Teach Me Classic Players Of The Week Presented By Mr. Spotlight!

The Teach Me Classic kicked off in Teaneck NJ and Mr. Spotlight was in the building to award the Player Of The Week with Spotlight uniforms. The Teach Me Classic has turned into the top winter league in the region and Basketball Spotlight is proud to a part of this league.

Teach Me Classic Players Of The Week

Ryan Patriaco (14U Rockaland Rockets)
Ryan Patriaco drops 30! on Riverside Hawks in a Night cap game of the 14U division. He defeated the Hawks in dominating fashion. He's averaging 25.5pts over the last 3 outings. He is the Teach Me Classic 'Player of the Week' Sponsored by Mr. Spotlight.
Isaiah "ZAY" Brown (11U Hoops Nation NYC)
Zay is the name that they gave him. He can hold handle his own, 1 on 1, with the best of them. He's been a surprise to watch all season by knocking down the long ball and getting to the paint at will and disrupting the PG's on the other teams. He has a good back court partner in Malcolm Ford Jr. and plan to make a run for the Teach Me Chip!
Jaylen "Cookie" Robinson (11U PLAYTIME)
Jaylen " is bestowed the name "Cookie Monster because he cleans up the boards so well. He has made tremendous strides for this Panther squad and is arguably the best player on this guard driven team. He's a match up problem for defenders and has learned to welcome his role.
Jalen Grant (9U Team IZOD)
Jalen stepped on the court and it was "All Eyez on Him" for this young Izod squad. He stood head and shoulders above his opponents when facing RENS 9U team this weekend. He can score, pass and defend. He is the Teach Me Classic 'Player of the Week' Sponsored by Basketball Spotlight...

Diary Of A Baller: Adrissa Traore (Harlem, NY) Entry #7

Drissa Strolling Through NYC

Hey Basketball World!!

Welcome to my 7th diary entry. I only have a few more entries to go. I’ve really enjoyed sharing my experience with everyone so far and I want to say thanks to everyone reading.

On Monday, I didn't have school so I stayed home and relaxed and then went to Cardinal Hayes High School to watch their game against Ione Prep. Now that I am approaching high school, I am watching a lot of high school teams play when I can so I can get a better sense of what I can expect when I play next year and figure out what school I will attend.

On Tuesday, I was chilling hang out with my family, which is kinda rare because I'm busy with school work and basketball. I enjoyed it. My coaches always tell me I have to trust the process and dedicate my time to becoming the best player I can be and it will open doors for me. I'm on a mission to go to college for free and then make money for what I love to do, playing ball.

On Wednesday, we had a half day, so I decided to stay at school to get some help on homework and some extra credit. Then, I went over to my best friends place.

On Thursday, after school, I got my work done then headed to a work out with Coach Greg. We used a weighted ball to work on handles and arm strength. We also worked my mid ranges and shooting the three ball. It was a good workout.

On Saturday, I had two school games. We won and I felt I played well. I am glad to see that what I have been working on I am starting to do in the games and be successful at it. After my game, I went to workout. Work is never done and I know I have to constantly workout on my guard skills. I also worked out on Sunday, I was working on different finishing and my post game.

That’s it for now.
Peace out.

Diary Of A Baller: Adrissa Traore (Harlem, NY) Entry #6

Adrissa Working Hard

What's up, Basketball World.

Welcome to diary entry #6.

The beginning of my week I took care of business with school. I did my homework and took care of what I needed to so that I can prepare for my weekend at the Made Hoops League Tournament in Springfield, Massachusetts.

On Thursday, I had a good day at school and went to work out and get ready for the weekend. On Thursdays at the gym I work out in, the high schoolers have open gym & play a lot of 5 on 5. I stayed and played because I felt it would help me prepare for Made Hoops and my upcoming school game the next day.

On Friday, I had a calm day at school and was ready for my school game. Some of my teammates were out sick so I knew I had to step it up in order to keep my goal of an undefeated season alive. It was an exciting game, I played every well. I had a put back dunk and another dunk that had the crowd going crazy. It felt good playing well in front of the home crowd. Even some of the teachers were surprised, they never really saw me play before.

On Saturday, it was the start of session 2 of Made Hoops in Springfield, Massachusetts. We woke up early and headed up to the tournament to play our first game of the weekend against a very talented Expressions team. They move the ball and can shot the ball very well. Unfortunately, we lost. We were missing some of our teammates that were playing for their school teams that day. However, they were able to make it for the rest of our games on Sunday and we won our remaining 2 games which puts us in a good position to make the playoffs going into our finals session in February.

Before I go, I want shout out PSA Cardinals Class of 22. They also participated in Made Hoops and think they are a very talented team and have potential to be top in the country.

Alright, that's it for this week. Peace.

FIVE Spotlight Alums Headed To McDonalds All American Game!

The 2017 McDonalds All American Game featured 5 Basketball Spotlight Alumni. Trevon Duval, Wendell Carter, Quade Green, Mohammad Bamba and Lonnie Walker all earned their stripes in Basketball Spotlight events. Basketball Spotlight would like to congratulate all the above players for this honorable selection.

Spotlight Alumni In McDonalds All American Game

Trevon Duval: Duval played on our circuit with several teams including DC Assault, Team Rebels, Team Final and Team IZOD. He then went on to become one of the best high school players in America. His college status is still uncertain but he has a serious list.

Quade Green: Green started on our circuit Philly Select but later went to Nike power Team Final. He was one of the best combo guards on our circuit period. In high school Green transformed into a complete point guard and shot up the charts. He eventually picked the University Of Kentucky and should be ready o once he reaches Lexington in the fall.

Wendell Carter: Carter played in the Basketball Spotlight CB Spider Classic with Atlantic Celtics. He was pegged back then as one of the best big me in the country. He had a dominant high school career and will be headed to Duke University. We are proud of this kid on and off the court.

Mohammad Bamba: Bamba got busy on the Spotlight circuit with Milbank. He was an offensive project then but had potential written all over him. In high school he joined PSA Cardinals and exploded on the national scene. Now some project him as the #1 player in the country. He hasn’t picked his college yet but it’s down to Kentucky and Duke.

Lonnie Walker: Walker entered the Spotlight circuit with MCB Elite before making an appearance with Metro Flyers. The wing showed good promise back then but really took his game to the next level in high school. He played with the Team Final crew on the Nike EYBL circuit. He just signed to play at the University of Miami.

Diary Of A Baller: Adrissa Traore (Harlem, NY) Entry #5

Adrissa and His Teammate

Hey Basketball World!!

I hope you all had a blessed week. I have been doing alright, I won't complain. Let's dive into my week.

On Monday, I was spent time with my brother, playing ball in the house with the mini hoop we have. I enjoy playing with him but you know I have to show him he can't beat me. Then went to the gym, we worked on rebounding and starting the break, going coast-to-coast. He is learning quickly and I am proud of him. Lastly, we went to Coach Greg's house to hang out and video games with Isaac Santiago, also plays with the PSA Cardinals. We've known and played with each other since the 4th grade and we have a strong relationship, watch the kid going through a lot and got way better as a person and a ball player. I will always love that kid.

On Wednesday, I stayed home to finish up some homework because the next day I was going to have school. My friends came over so we can finish the word and after we were done with the school work we went to school practice to work on all our plays. We were working on breaking the zone defense and our press breakers.

On Thursday, I started school, it was just a normal day. We had our first game of the season. I played well and so did my other teammates. We won by 20 but honestly we should have won by 40. We have to remain focused for the entire game. We got a little lazy defensively end and they start scoring more.

On Saturday, my teammates and I had our 2nd game. It was an exciting game even though you were up the whole game. And after I went to my friends game, in the Bronx. He played very well and I could see how much better he has gotten. That was nice to see.

On Sunday, I did a lot of weight lifting, getting my weight up and getting my upper body stronger. I have to get ready for High School and getting stronger is a big part of that. Until next time. I hope you all have a great week.
