12U AAU Nationals Day 5: Top Performers Part 1

Khalea Turner (LA Primetime)

We are down to the Final Four teams at the 12U AAU Nationals Championship. It’s been a long and exciting week and Basketball Spotlight enjoyed every minute of it. Here’s a look at the top performers of the day.

Day 5 Top Performers

Khalea Turner Forward (Louisiana Primetime) – Turner helped his team punch their Final Four ticket by completely dominating the inside game. In the sweet 16 game against the Elite Cavaliers he compiled over twenty rebounds and points. He’s definitely the best inside prospect down here.

Seven Woods Guard (SC Ravens)- Another day and Mr. Woods shined bright in Hampton. While some other youngsters waste a lot of moves to get into the lane, Woods game is very mature for his age. Today and tonight he looked very good getting past the first defender and pulling up for the jumper. His explosiveness and height on his jump shot shows he’s just a different type of player. This kid is special.

Tyus Battle Guard (Team Battle)- The stage was bright and Battle shined in both outings today. He drained 6 treys against the Cal. Aces and knocked down another five in their loss to the Defenders Select. His play picked up as the games got important.

Aaron Augustine Guard (Georgia Stars)- Augustine saved the team in their first outing by attacking and taking over the contest. He finishes strong at the cup and will pull up mid dribble for a jumper. I like his steady pace and ability to pick his spots.

Alani Moore Guard (DC Assault)- “Showtime” and his crew fell short of the Final Four but he had quite a showing. He’s probably the best rebounding guard in this event. Moore’s drive and finish game was on full display and he tried to reach into his bag and pull out a victory. He’s a primetime guard.

De Aaron Fox Forward (Defenders Select)- Fox gave Team Battle fits with dribble drives and extended finishes. He was a matchup problem for the Jersey boys and has improved offensively since I watched him in Ohio.

Courtney Lark Forward (Defenders Select)- Lark had a tip in and a big time block that helped them reach the Final Four. He’s a quick leaper and gets up very high for his age.

Joseph Caldwell Guard (Defenders Select)- Caldwell is a tenacious defender that got up under the TB ball handlers. On the offensive end he loves taking the big shot and made some clutch free throws that propelled them into the Final Four.
