Tyvez Monroe (Fairfax Stars)The 14U Division was featured some high flyers and top notch performances. This time around we will let our forwards lead the way in the recaps. Here’s a look at some of the top forwards that represented at the MDC.
MDC 14U Top Forwards
Tyvez Monroe Guard (Fairfax Stars)- Monroe made his Spotlight tournament debut and left with added respect. He gave defenses fits with his versatility and array of moves. His savvy handle and ability to score from all three levels helped him post good numbers. His play was reminiscing of a baby Mary Aguirre.
Chris Baldwin Forward (Expressions)- Baldwin once again proved why he should be regarded as a top prospect. Standing close to 6’7 Chris isn’t a down low banger even though he’s efficient inside. His perimeter game and skills stand out and will make college coaches ring his phone off the hook. He’s more of a Donyell Marshall type.
Jamison Clarke Forward (Fairfax Stars)- Clarke was one of the high flyers this weekend. He caught a couple of dunks that brought the crowd to their feet. I like how he runs the floor, finishes off plays and contributes on the defensive end.
Jayvian Delacruz Forward (On Point Cyclones)- The lanky forward is a scoring threat along the baseline and especially in transition. Once he gets into the lane he usually leaps above defenders and drops in the bucket. He led the team in scoring and even scored 26 points in one contest.
Marcus Jackson Forward (Albany Dream Team)- Jackson saved his best game for the big stage against Fairfax Stars. Jackson dominated the post and even nailed a trey ball for good measure in the victory. He has made good strides in his game over the years.
Ja’ren Hampton Forward (CJ Future Stars)- Hampton will definitely need to add some mass while in high school. He has a nice jump hook in the lane and knows how to hold his own on both backboards. Ja’ren is a under the radar right now but has a chance to be a late bloomer.
