Basketball Spotlight Elite 80 Expo Recap: Day 1 Pool B

Britton Lee (Philadelphia, PA)

The Basketball Spotlight Elite 80 Expo got underway today and it was some serious ballers in the building. We got a chance to watch and get you some good feedback.

Day 1 Top Performers Pool B

Britton Lee Guard (Philadelphia, PA)- Lee told me he owed me a good showing because of his less than spectacular outing at the Gym Rat Midnight Madness and I must say he delivered. The physical guard is a monster on defense and very explosive on offense. He manhandled ball handlers while stripping them several times. On the other end of the floor he attacked anyone in his way and used his physical attributes to score often.

Jordan Washington Forward (Queens, NY)- The big boy got busy at afternoon and used his body to dominate the opposition. I also like the way Jordan catches the rock and scores on the post. He has a soft touch and uses his turnaround shot to score at will. When his team ran into dry spells that went inside and he bailed them out.

Howard Sellers Guard (Coatesville, PA)- I didn’t know Sellers before this weekend but he used this stage to introduce himself. Sellers outside shot is very wet off the dribble and he will even hit it with hands in his face. Also he seems like a player that wants the rock when the game gets real and is willing to deliver. He got busy.

Comrad Chambers Guard (Chester, PA)- Here’s another player I haven’t seen a lot of but Chambers gets my nod. Defenders better tape their ankles when guarding him because his handle sick but what really caught my attention was his midrange game. While other players run to the 3-point line Comrad soft stroke in the midrange area is deadly. He’s also a ball hawk on defense.

Ethan Telfair Guard (Brooklyn, NY)- They say pressure break pipes but Telfair stepped to the line with .4 seconds and nailed both ends of a 1 and 1 to get his team the win. Telfair changed his team game plan when they weren’t having success against the man to man defense. The youngster had the smarts to change his squad into a pick and roll format.

Jaquan Johnson Guard (Chester, PA)- Johnson was one of the reason’s Telfair switched his scheme. The youngster plays both ends of the floor and showed me his true game. He can get it done off the bounce and his jumper is very wet. The southpaw knows when to attack the lane and get other teammates involved. He showed me a lot.

Shafeek Taylor Forward (Philadelphia, PA)- Taylor has a scoring knack and plays exceptional defense. I like his size and how he goes hard on the floor. He grew several inches since the last time I saw him but he still can handle the pill. Watch his flow in a couple of years.

Darius Robinson Guard (Chester, PA)- I had memories of MDC at Rider University as Robinson had the stroke and the driving game intact. His high arching shot looks good every time it leaves his hands. I also enjoy watching his body control when going to the cup, he knows how to draw fouls and score at the same time.

Kavon Stewart Guard (Paterson, NJ)- Stewart got it going in his second game. The attacking guard was able to get loose into transition and make things happen. He cut a few defenders up off the dribble and loves using his floater.

Reggie Cameron Forward (Hackensack, NJ)- The deep shooting forward also had a better look in his second outing. He drained the open trey and used his size to rebound the rock. I look for him to bring his complete game tomorrow as they fight for a title push.

Raquan Johnson Guard (Philadelphia, PA)- Johnson was a late entry but took full advantage of his time in the building. He’s very smooth and knows his way around the floor. I like his inside and outside combination. Check for him in Philly soon.

Gabril Chandler Forward (Atlantic City, NJ)- Chandler played inside for his squad and fought hard especially the likes of Washington. I like how he raised his game level and performed against the comp. This type of environment will help him out in the long run.
