Basketball Spotlight Elite 80 Expo Recap: Day 1 Pool A

Shacore Edwards (Irvington, NJ)

The Basketball Spotlight Elite 80 Expo got underway today and it was some serious ballers in the building. We got a chance to watch and get you some good feedback.

Day 1 Top Performers Pool A

Shacore Edwards Guard (Irvington, NJ)- Edwards arrived late but went right to work when he arrived. The electrifying two-guard has some serious tools and put them on display. He glides to the hole with ease and changes directions in a split second. At times he looked like the top player in the building.

Jaren Sina Guard (Lake Hopatcong, NJ)- The point guard looked very good playing his game. His fluid style and court vision made set him apart from some of the guards at this event. He raced up and down the floor leading breaks and finishing some on his own. He didn’t change this writers view as him being one of the top PG’s in the region.

Jordan Forehand Guard (Bridgewater, NJ)- Jordan did nothing to ruin his rep as the powerful guard scored at the cup and bullied his way to the hole. His athletic prowess stood out in this atmosphere and he looked the comp the face and didn’t blink. I was impressed!

Kody Jenkins Guard (Hackensack, NJ)- Jenkins had other horses on his team so I got to see other facets of his game. He got the ball put in transition and even ran the point on occasion. His slashing style also stood out during the day. He definitely held his own.

Joel Hernandez Guard (Teaneck, NJ)- I kept seeing this number 10 player making plays and when I checked the book it was Joel. The baller from up north made some swift moves towards the goal and converted when he got the opportunity. He put in some work.

Amir Maddred Forward (Camden, NJ)- The long forward from South Jersey was a magnet for the rock and did his job once he touched it. He dropped some nice buckets with a soft touch and even showed some range with a face up jumper. Potential wise is ceiling is very high.

Dylan Daniluk Forward (Runnemede, NJ)- I was also impressed with Daniluk. He showed me that he could create on the perimeter and did all the little things like rebound, pass the rock and run the floor. He proved worthy of attending this event.

Denzel Wilcher Forward (Newark, NJ)- The husky forward carved his way to a few baskets and looked very light on his feet. He established post position and though undersized he has a nose for the hole. Wilcher did his thing out there. Good job big fella.

Rakwan Kelly Guard (Newark, NJ)- The athletic wing did a reverse lay-up drill on the opposition. He’s very fluid and efficient in transition while earning a living scoring in traffic. He held his squad down for the most part this afternoon. Watch out for him in the future.

Jared Nickens Forward (New Brunswick, NJ)- I like Nickens size on the perimeter and his tools he brings to the table. The mid range shot is legit and his ability to get things done was very apparent. His team took a tough loss but I like his upside.
