Diary Of A Baller: Terrence "Big Smoove" Williams (Clinton, NJ) Entry #2

Terrence and His Team Takeover Teammates

What's up Basketball Spotlight Fam!

This week was a very slow week. A blizzard hit the DMV area, so I was trapped in the house Sunday and Monday, but that didn't stop the grind! I worked out in the basement for an hour and ran two miles on my treadmill. I finally got out the house on Tuesday and went to my strength trainer, Tobe Stephens. Wednesday, I went to one of my basketball trainers, Coach Leslie. Thursday we had a two hour practice with my 8th grade team and our 7th grade team. It was a very intense practice since we had the upcoming Basketball Spotlight tournament. Friday before I headed up to New Jersey, I got in the lab with my other basketball trainer, Coach Shi and got in a two and a half hour workout before I headed up to New Jersey. My team and I were ready for the tournament!

We arrived in New Jersey at around 12 pm Saturday and checked in to the hotel. We had our first pool play game at 1:40 pm versus Team Loaded 757. We came out and executed and ended up beating a very good team. We stayed at the gym to watch our 7th grade team play. Our team’s support each other...we're TTO fam! Then came our 4:00 pm game versus Hilltoppers Heat. During this game we faced a lot of adversity and had our ups and downs, but we pulled through and beat another good team. We finished the day 2-0 in pool play, coming out 1st in our pool! Later that evening, I spent time with my mother and sister and updated my dad on the day. I got some rest for Sunday in preparation for bracket play.

Championship day! I woke up, dressed, and met my team and our 7th grade team for breakfast. We all knew we would have to bring our A game today! Our first game was at 10:20 am. We played CTA Turbo. They were a very physical team. We beat them in our first game of the day. We relaxed in the gym and watched our 7th grade play their first bracket play game. We were ready for our second game at 12 pm versus New York Gauchos. We knew they were a very good team and had very crafty guards. It was a close game all game. We worked hard again, came together as a team, and ended up winning the game.

Championship game! Team Takeover vs Team Thrill. We are both from the DMV and knew going in that this was going to be a tough game. The 1st half was a close battle. Neither team was able to pull away easily with a lead. In the second half we started to pull it away. We were executing our plays correctly and playing great defense. We started to pull it away and ended up winning by 20, 34-54. It felt good winning our second championship. This tournament put my team at 17-0 on the season. This was another great tournament managed by Basketball Spotlight.

Well that's it for my week and weekend Basketball Spotlight fam. Talk to you next week in my 3rd entry!
