Elite Cavaliers Best Of The Best Showcase 12U Championship Recap: Rytes Warriors Just Too Much

Rytes Warriors Run Away With The Crown

Carsen Edwards scored 18 points and Courtney Lark added 11 markers as the Rytes Warriors stormed past the Cincinnati Lakers 66-41 to win the Best Of The Best Showcase 12U Championship. Jarron Cumberland finished with 14 points for the Lakers in the loss.

Top Performers

Carsen Edwards Guard (Rytes Warriors)- Edwards showed his special talent in the finals by destroying the Lakers defense. He scored on runners and tough layups in traffic. He seems like he teases shot blockers with the rock before floating the rock over their out stretched arms. No one can stay in front of this kid because of his quickness. Yes, he has earned a nickname. Introducing Carsen “The Blur” Edwards.

Courtney Lark Forward (Rytes Warriors)- Lark did heavy damage on the glass which gave his squad second chance opportunities. His leaping ability is outstanding on this level and his will to get the rock stood out. I think he will be a wing forward in the future.

De’Aaron Fox Guard (Rytes Warriors)- Fox made an immediate impact on the offensive end by crossing defenders and getting into the lane. The southpaw scored on a few tough finishes in the lane. On defense he was a hawk in the passing lane.

Joseph Caldwell Guard (Ryte Warriors)- Speaking of defense Caldwell locked down any ball handler in sight. This youngster had several steals by stripping opposing point guards and helping his team get into transition. Once he had the rock his superb ball handling and speed took over. Mark my words this kid will be a special one.

Jarron Cumberland Forward (Cincinnati Lakers)- Cumberland probably was wore out because of his performance in the semifinals. He torched his former squad with driving layups and big buckets to propel them to the finals. I can tell this kid has been working hard on his game.

Ashon Riggins Guard (Cincinnati Lakers)- Riggins also spent a lot of energy during the semifinals. The big guard made some big plays down the stretch against the Elite Cavaliers even knocking down a few big treys. During the finals he tried to get it going but fatigue set in.

Roderick Caldwell Guard (Cincinnati Lakers)- By the conclusion of the weekend Caldwell turned into one of my favorite point guards. In the semifinals he handled the Cavaliers full court blitz and was also able to get the scoring going himself. His poise and toughness will take him a long way.
