Basketball Spotlight Headed To Mid Atlantic Final Four

Basketball Spotlight will be taking the ride over to Cardinal O’Hara High School for the Mid-Atlantic AAU Final Four. The Mid-Atlantic has some of the top squads in the region and we are anxious to see them get it on. Here’s a preview of the action on Saturday and Sunday.

14 and Under Division

Peacemakers: The Bullies from Philly are looking to bring home the crown. Their rivals Team Nelson got knocked off so it seems like they should be the favorites. But stranger things have happened.

Hockessin PAL: This squad made some noise by knocking off power house Team Nelson. Now they are out to prove that it wasn’t a fluke. We are definitely anxious to see them rock.

Other Teams: Higher Ground Warriors, Northeast Sting

13 and Under Division

Youth Interlock: Right now it’s YI and then everybody else. They have the size, speed, experience and talent to run away with this crown. The pressure is on and we will see how they hold up.

Team Nelson: Don’t sleep on TN because you might wake up with a loss. They are solid in every position and more importantly they know how to win games. Their trademark defensive pressure is one of their main components.

Team Kobe: Team Kobe faces TN in the semifinals. Team Nelson ran past them in an earlier match-up but big time forward Brandon Austin was just coming off a wrist injury. Now they should be ready for a true showdown.

Philly Select: This will be my first look at this new squad and with Malik Smith running the show they should be entertaining. They have a huge mountain to climb in the semifinals called Youth Interlock.

12 and Under Division

Team Final: This squad is coming through ready to wreck shop. They have won every tourney they have entered since coming up short at the Grand Finale. The other teams need to brace themselves for this tornado.

Philly Aztecs: The Aztecs have a tough semifinal draw with Team Final. They have decent guard play and a serious will to win. Let’s see if Stevie Jordan and crew can pull of the upset of the year.

Other Teams: Peacemakers, South Jersey Blitz

Basketball Spotlight will be bringing you updates Saturday night after the semifinals and Sunday evening after the champions are crowned.
