13U AAU National Report



Gauchos Win Classic Bracket Title

A number of teams from the Northeast Region headed to Memphis Tennesee for the AAU 13 and Under Nationals. Basketball Spotlight did not make the trip but we have a tournament summary of all the teams from our area that participated.

Tri-State 13U Nationals Report

New York

NYC Gauchos:

The Gauchos went 7-2, they finished 3rd in their pool play which placed them into the Classic Bracket. They ran through the single elimination consolation field and won the championship. It’s not the as winning the National title but it’s still an impressive feat when you look at the overall competition.

NY Whiz Kids

The Wiz Kids finished 2nd in their pool and advanced to the Championship Bracket. They suffered their first lost in the 1st Rd to Baltimore Select, then was eliminated after losing their next game to Milwaukee Running Rebels.

NY Panthers

The Panthers finished 3rd in their pool and were placed into the Classic Bracket. Things didn’t go well in the Classic Bracket as they loss to Full Package Athletics 91-66 in the first round. They finished 1-3.

Westchester Hawks

Westchester Hawks finished 3rd in their pool and headed to the Classic Bracket. They made a serious run in the Classic bracket losing in the 3rd round to Greensboro Warriors 54-43. They finished 6-2.

Long Island Lightning

The Lightning finished 2nd in their pool and made it to the Championship Bracket. They lost in the first round of the Championship Bracket to Ohio Elite 50-47 and were eliminated after losing to the Educated Athletes in the 1st round consolation.

New Jersey

Trenton Hurricanes:

The Canes finished 4th in their pool before being placed in the Classic Bracket. In the Classic they knocked off J-Smoove from Georgia before losing to the Cincinnati All Stars 82-74 in the 2nd round.

Linden Ballers:

Linden Ballers finished 4th in their pool and were placed in the Classic Bracket. They then ran into Ohio Basketball Club in the 1st round and took a loss 76-66.

Pennsylvania

Educated Athletes:

Educated Athletes came in 2nd in their pool and advanced to the Championship bracket. They lost to the Memphis War Eagles in the first round but made a deep run in the 1st round consolation tourney before losing to Fort Wayne Knights 67-58.

Peacemakers:

The Peacemakers finished 2nd in their pool while advancing to the Championship Bracket. They then loss in the first round to the Houston Defenders before being eliminated by losing to Playground Elite 66-39.
