12U AAU Nationals Recap Day 3: Gauchos Steamroll Team Arkansas

Tiquan Givens Ran The Show For The Gauchos

Dakari Johnson scored 16 points and Joshua James added 12 markers to lead the Gauchos to a 68-38 victory over Team Arkansas. Davonte Evans gave a good effort for Team Arkansas.

Day 3 Standout Performers

Tiquan Givens Guard (Gauchos)- All summer Givens has been running a solid point and this was very evident today. He ran the ball club well by penetrating the gaps and making the defense move. Tiquan also played lock down defense on the opposing point guard and forced him into several turnovers. He really digs in on defense.

Joshua James Guard (Gauchos)- James got things going early getting some key steals and pushing the rock in transition. He plays aggressive defense while moving his feet and doesn’t waste transition trips because he knows to use his body to get fouled or convert the bucket.

Dakari Johnson Forward (Gauchos)- Johnson anchors the Gauchos defense well. If opposing guards drive the lane they must see this 6’4 fly swatter. On the offensive end he seems to be getting better every game. He has learned how to sealed defenders on the post long enough to set up his drop step.

Nohan Vickers Guard (Gauchos)- Vickers plays his role as back-up point guard. He plays with a lot of energy and will pull a deep jumper from anywhere in the gym. He has a lot of pop in his game.

Davonte Evans Guard (Team Arkansas)- Evans was the only shining light on this team. He attacked very quickly kind of out of control at times. I still like his heart and willingness to compete on this level.
