Diary Of A Baller: Christian Bliss (Flushing, NY) Entry #5

Hello Basketball Spotlight World, 

It’s Christian Bliss back again to let you know how my week went. 

Monday- School was a long day being the first day of the week is always hard to wake up to. The bus came really late today and I was standing outside in the cold for like 20 minutes so I was mad starting the day off. In gym I had to do some physical stuff to play high school. So, I did the pull-ups, running and sit ups I needed to do. The only one I need to do again were the sit ups. I did 47 in 60 seconds but I needed to get 53 so I am going to have to do that again Wednesday. When I got home from school, I went to my strength and conditioning trainer and got some work in. We did a lot of upper body and I’ve been seeing results lately. I have gained 6 pounds since starting training with him and it’s only been a little more than a month. When I got home I was tired and did some homework, then ordered some Dominos and went to sleep. 

Tuesday- School went by quickly because two of my main classes were somewhat shortened. When I got home from school I ordered Dominos again same thing as yesterday too. Then I took a hour nap and went to La fitness to play. Usually I would go to open run at the high school but today I was looking to actually run full court hard. So I went to La fitness and did that, I didn’t touch weights today at all I just went straight to the court and played. It was a long day we didn’t leave until 11 and got home at around 11:30. Then I did my homework and took a shower at that time I got hungry so I ordered Dominos again. I didn’t go to sleep until 1 and I know I will he tired all day tomorrow. 

Wednesday- I was tired all day today but I was able to get through the day. In gym I finished my sit ups, and am cleared to play now tryouts are coming up so I’m excited for that. When I got home I went to sleep and woke up at like 8. I didn’t workout today because my body was sore, so I used it as my rest day for the week. When I woke up I started homework I had a lot today. It took me 3 hours to finish homework today so by the time I finished it was already late. Then I ordered some food to eat, took a shower and went to sleep. 

Thursday- School felt forever, one class I don’t look forward to everyday is science. My class is really weird and one of my teachers isn’t cool so once I finish that class the rest of the day goes by quicker. After school, my boy Dhane came over early because we have practice today. We went outside played some ball and then ordered some food before we left to practice. Everyone didn’t show up to practice today but we still got work in. It was a lot of shooting and had some fun going at it on 1’s and 2’s. When I got home, we watched the Celtics and Thunder game I love watching Westbrook and Paul George. 

Friday- I was so tired most of the school day, when I got home I ate some food and took a nap. Then my mom picked me up and we went to Queens. By the time I got home, it was already 8 or so and I was tired so I wasn’t going to go to the gym. So, my brother and I went to get some pizza quickly before he left to the city. When I got home, I took a hot bath to relax my body because my shoulder was killing me all week. Then I used the heating pad on my back and shoulder. One thing I realized is rest is very important even if I want to work out every day, my body would be overworked. It will only hurt me and not help so I am learning to rest my body in the right way. 

Saturday- I had a doctor appointment in the morning, I got two shots and checkup. Then I had some breakfast at Panera Bread one of my favorite places. After I went to get a shape up and the barbershop. Once I got home I rested for a little and then went to the New York sports club. I know I have to be up early tomorrow for my games. So I went from around 8 to 9:30 and then went home took a shower and went to sleep. 

Sunday- My first two game were in Brooklyn, the first game we played bad but still won in a close game. Then there was a hour break and we played another game in the same gym. That one was a blowout but we had to leave right after the game to Harlem. We had 2 games there as well, both of the games were somewhat competitive. I played well in both games and got the job done for my team. I had good stats for both games average close to a double-double in points and assist. We went 4-0 on the day. By the time I got home I was tired and I had to leave to Long Island back for the school week.
