Spotlight Alum: "Kid Mamba" Battle Headed To Dubai (USA Team)

Tyus Battle is headed for Dubai. 

The highly recruited Gill St. Bernard's guard, who recently got offers from Kentucky and Duke, has officially been named to the USA roster for the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship. The tournament takes place from Aug. 8 to the 17th in United Arab Emirates. 

Battle was one of 12 players to make the squad. Jayson Tatum (Chaminade College Prep/St. Louis, Mo.), Henry Ellenson (Rice Lake H.S./Rice Lake, Wis.), Terrance Ferguson (Prime Prep Academy/Flower Mound, Texas), Harry Giles (Wesleyan Christian Academy/Winston-Salem, N.C.), V.J. King (St. Vincent-St. Mary H.S./Akron, Ohio), Malik Newman (Callaway H.S./Jackson, Miss.), Ivan Rabb (Bishop O’Dowd H.S./ Oakland, Calif.), Devearl Ramsey (Sierra Canyon H.S./Los Angeles, Calif.), Diamond Stone (Dominican H.S./Milwaukee, Wis.), Caleb Swanigan (Homestead H.S./Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Josh Jackson (Consortium College Prep H.S./ Southfield, Mich.) make up the rest of the roster. 

The team will spend three days before the tournament training in Doha, Qatar. The United States faces Greece on Aug. 8, Angola on Aug. 9 and the Philippines on Aug. 11. The round of 16 is scheduled for Aug. 12, the quarterfinals are on Aug. 14, the semifinals will be Aug. 15 and the final is Aug. 16.
