Basketball Spotlight 13U Midseason Report

We are currently at the mid-point of the Basketball Spotlight season and a lot of interesting things have transpired. Some new players and teams have emerged. Here’s our mid season 13U report.

Basketball Spotlight 13U Midseason Report

Hottest Team: F.A.C.E.S.

They won the Clash For The Cup, finished in the final four of the AC Showcase and recently won the NJ State crown. Coach Cole turned this group around quickly and they might take home that Grand Champion trophy at the end of July.

Surprise Team: Force One

Winning the Blue Division at the Grand Finale was one thing but the way they ran through some of the top teams in AC impressed us. They are definitely clicking on all cylinders right now.

MIA Team: DC Assault

We haven’t seen the #1 team in the region since Grand Finale but don’t worry they will be entering the MDC. They are currently gearing up for their regional championship. This is a very dangerous team in the 13U level.

Player Of The Year Front Runner Alani Moore (DC Assault)
“Showtime” just impacts the game tremendously on this level. This weekend I saw Moore bang out with some of the toughest 8th grade guards in the region. He’s one of those guys that just knows how win and does anything to get it done.

Surprise Player: Joe Hampton (Force One)
I knew this kid could dominate but he’s playing like the best forward in the region right now. He was a match up nightmare for everyone he faced in Atlantic City. He has definitely thrown his name in the POY talk.

Current POY Candidate List’
Alani Moore (DC Assault)
Anthony Cowan (DC Assault)
Sam Green (DC Assault)
Joe Hampton (Force One)
Mustafa Heron (Gauchos)
NyRhique Smith (Gauchos)
Ray Montilous (F.A.C.E.S.)
Jamir Harris (Team Final)
Unique McLean (Team Scan)
Ceasar Adim (MABC)
Jamal Allen (MABC)
Tremont Waters (CT Elite)
