Diary Of A Baller: Richie Rosa (Pequannock, NJ) Entry #4

Hello Basketball Spotlight Community and Friends,

This week was very entertaining I must say. I was able to get some good workouts in and watch some good fall basketball games in New Jersey. I also got a chance to visit another high school that I am considering next fall. So, here’s my weekly journey.

Monday, I woke up at 6 am and started my day with yoga and a healthy breakfast. I went to school and the day started off great as we did new drills and IQ stations. My class work was good, and I started doing some prep work for my high school entrance exam. After school my dad took me to use the shooting machine at IYbasketball for an hour to work on my jump shot. After the session I went home and spent some time with my sister riding bikes. Next, I did a football film session with my team. We went over our previous opponent before taking a look at our upcoming challenge. After everyone else logged off I still watched more films with my dad. Finally, I ended the night over all the assignments I needed to finish from school.

Tuesday, I woke up at 6:30 am and did some meditation in the room. Meditating really helps me get ready for the day. I ate some fresh oatmeal for breakfast before heading out to school. I went to school and had a good day. The workouts were intense and really took a toll on my body, as they should. Tough workouts help us prepare mentally and physically. When I got home, I soaked in a Epson Salt bath which was much needed. Later, I got ready for football practice, and I knew it would be tough since we just had a loss. We went over defense the majority of the night. Finally, I got home, settled in and worked on my prep book.

Wednesday, my alarm went off at 6:30 am and I began my day with stretching. I ate breakfast and got ready for school. I had a good day at school while shooting over what I felt was about one thousand jump shots. We also participated in recovery day which includes yoga and stretching. After school I got home and took my sister out to get some shots up. I missed practice because my back was sore and my dad told me I should rest and not have any strenuous movement. I was bored at home, so I went to Kennedy High School to watch some of my friends play in the fall league. I watched DePaul vs. St.Benedict's Prep, Bergen Catholic vs St. Peters Prep and Hudson Catholic vs Kennedy. It was a great atmosphere with high energy ballers looking for the winning edge. Finally, I went home to get settled in and get some rest for the next day.

Thursday, I woke up at 7 am and felt good. I was scheduled to be a student for the day at Bergen Catholic. I heard so much about their football program and now their basketball teams are making noise. I still wanted to see everything first hand for myself. So, I went and had paired up with freshman Shawn Spencer who happens to be my friend. He showed me around, we went to Math and Spanish class with him while eating lunch with the other freshmen. I had a good visit at campus, and the students were cool and also enthusiastic about their studies. I can’t wait to see a few other schools so I can compare them. Later that day I was okay to attend football after my back was feeling bad earlier this week. After practice I went home, watched a movie with my family and went to bed.

Friday, my alarm went off at 6:30 am. I did some morning meditation before eating some egg whites and whole wheat toast. I went to school and spoke with my teachers about my visit to Bergen Catholic. They were excited to get feedback on my visit. The day went by like a breeze especially since we all put in a lot of work. I was so proud to hear I was being moved up in my classes. After school my dad took me to see Delbarton vs DePaul in football. We were invited to hang out on the sidelines by the coaches. I got a chance to see my friend Dez #13 play a great game at wide receiver for DePaul. He’s definitely a future All American. He had a good game and they won 14-7. I went home and went to bed because I had a prep course scheduled for the next day.

Saturday, I got a lot of rest because I didn’t have a game. It was our bye week. I ate breakfast before getting picked up by my friend and scholar teammate Mason. We had our HSPT course at St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City. Next, I headed to play with my NJ Scholars 2026 team at Peak Academy in Mountainside. We got two wins on the high school (JV) level. I also got a chance to see my friend Logan dunk. After the game my teammates and I went to the Front Office Fall Invite held at Roselle Catholic. Finally, I got home and spent some time with my sister before heading out to watch a movie with my friends. It was a long day and I needed a good night's sleep.

Sunday began with high protein breakfast before heading out for a workout with DLam. I finally got a workout with my guy, it's tough to schedule because of football. Today’s session was good, especially with me being explosive with the ball. Finally, I went home and chilled with my family to watch football. These are the times I cherish because basketball season is coming and things get real hectic during that time as many that are reading this understand.

Again, Thanks for being a part of my weekly journey. Hopefully I can entertain you a little more the following week.
