Clash For The Cup 6th Grade Top Performers Part 2

Tajae Jones

The Basketball Spotlight Clash For The Cup 6th Grade Division went down to the wire. Here’s a look at Part 2 of our top performers.

Clash For The Cup 6th Grade Top Performers Part 2

Tajae Jones Forward (Black Ops) – Jones could have been the top prospect in the 6th grade division. He is a long wing that has ball handling skills. Tajae can grab the rebound and push the rock leading the break for his team. He is at his best attacking the basket in the half court. Still growing into his body and a little raw as far as skill set, we are excited to monitor this prospect as his game continues to grow. He does have a nice stroke from the FT line so we know he can develop an efficient jump shot with range out to the 3 point line.

Hao Chen Forward (Black Ops) – Chen is a big power forward that anchors the paint for his squad. He has a high IQ and always seems to be at the right place on the floor on both ends. He plays good defense and runs the floor good for his size transitioning from offense to defense. He crashes the boards following his shot and converts from the free throw line. Currently we can see Hao as possibly the top big man in the Northeast.
Semaj Long Guard (Black Ops) – Semaj is a slender guard that can pass, dribble and shoot making him an offensive weapon for his team. He has a nice floater game and can knock down the 3 ball with a nice stroke with perfect arc. We saw him grab a rebound pushing the rock and finishing the play with a nice bounce pass in traffic.
Eli Small Forward (Black Ops) – Small is a real long lefty wing that also has a lot of potential. He rebounds well and finishes around the basket. We saw him attack the paint off the bounce, use a ball fake and then finish with touch. Eli has the ability to be a very good two way player being able to defend multiple positions.
Nathaniel Wilder Guard (Black Ops) – Wilder is a smaller guard that plays with high energy. He has no fear attacking the rim and finishing around taller defenders. He has a nice stroke from the FT line which means he has the ability to knock down jumpers in the flow of the game.
Kaleb Johnson Guard (YW Ballers) – Johnson is a do it all guard that scores, rebounds and racks up assists for his team. He has wide shoulders and a strong frame that allows him to get anywhere on the court that he wants off the bounce. He has great court vision making nice long lead passes to his teammates down the court. He also can knock down his free throws. Kaleb finished with 17 points in the game we watched.
Stephen Conway Forward (YW Ballers) – Conway is a strong power forward that knows how to use his body to finish around the rim. At this point he is still developing his athleticism so he understands how to play to his strengths to be effective. He is a good rebounder and knows how to get to the FT line. He had 15 points in a game we watched.
Chidi Nwigwe Guard (Monroe Crusaders) – Chidi is a big guard that is always in attack mode. He knows how to use his size as his advantage as he is the primary ball handler for his team. He can stroke it from the 3 point line or attack the rim finishing through contact. He rebounds his position well and has the ability to be a lock down defender.
