MLK Classic Top Performers Day 1 (13 and Under)

Kaison Randolph Did Damage Today

The MLK Classic 13U Bracket also caught our attention today as it gave us a chance to see some new talent. There were some new faces that got busy and well as some usual suspects. Here’s a look at the top performers on Day 1.

13U Top Performers

Kaison Randolph Forward (Team MVP)- Today Randolph looked like Danny Manning when he was at Kansas. The lanky forward swatted away shots from everywhere and also did damage on the offensive end. He was too athletic and active for KSK as he did whatever he wanted on the blocks. Kaison also showed the willingness to handle the rock and create when possible. He had a huge day.

Shaquan Worthy Guard (Team MVP)- Worthy might have had the best PG performance of the day. His speed and creativity at the point caused several problems for opponents. He dribbled past defenders and threw several no look on time passes. On defense he was a ball hound that never let the KSK guards get comfortable.

Gerald Alexis Forward (Team MVP)- Alexis is a small forward with a muscle game. He ran the floor and finished off plays using his brute strength and skill. Down the stretch when KSK tried to make a run he came up with some big plays to help seal the deal.

Isiah York Forward (Team MVP)- York also gave Team MVP some serious minutes. He played mostly on the baseline and benefitted from serious guard play. When he received the rock he converted on the blocks and nailed a big trey in the closing moments.

Kyle Menard Forward (Team Scan)- I gave a chance to see Menard in a new light. He was definitely handling the rock and making decisions like a true guard. His length allowed his to score over smaller defenders and even make a few nice feeds. He has a tremendous upside.

Francisco Zeno Guard (Team Scan)- Zeno is a combo guard but loves to stick his nose inside for rebounds and physical play. Once he gets the rock and attacks his strength takes over and it usually leads to buckets. Today he scored in bunches and helped his team pull out big wins.

Kevin Seymour Forward (Team Scan)- Seymour is a forward that slashes and make plays. He finishes around the rim and can score over most post players. On the defensive end he hits the glass and can guard perimeter players. He also has a big upside.

Naim Thomas Guard (Team Scan)- Thomas came in the game against KSK and gave his squad an instant spark. The point guard controlled the tempo and searched for the right time to attack. He was able to set up teammates and drop buckets himself.

Temple Gibbs Guard (KSK)- His team didn’t have a good day but Gibbs still looked impressive on the floor. He has a natural feel for the game and uses it to make his presence felt. He drained a couple of jumpers and scored near the basket using body control.
