North Team Wins J.E.M. All Star Classic 111-91

Austin Tilghman Took Home MVP Honors.

Isaiah Whitehead scored 22 points and Naim Thomas chipped in 18 markers as the North Team defeated the South Team 111-91 to win the Basketball Spotlight J.E.M. All Star Classic. Shep Garner finished with 24 points in the South Team in the loss.

MVP

Austin Tilghman Guard (Wilmington, DE)- Tilghman was the most efficient offensive player in the game. I got a chance to see a lot more of his game in terms quickness and cleaver moves. He zipped past defenders and weaved his way to the tin. I also like how he played defense and even showing his leaping ability on a big block.

Sportsmanship Award

Jared Wilson Frame Guard (Windsor, CT)- Frame got busy last evening with some thunderous moves and supreme leaping ability. I love the range on his jump shot and the quickness he shows when attacking the goal. On one play he went down the lane a tried to flush over a few defenders before getting fouled. He’s the top 2014 player from Connecticut and one of the top in the region.

Basketball Spotlight Super Showcase Highlights: Marcus Floyd Arrives

Marcus Floyd Continued His Hot Summer!

Things got real interesting at the Super Showcase when Delaware point guard Marcus Floyd arrived. He joined the Suns team in the second half of their game versus the Hornets. The exciting point guard went right to work and made his presence felt early. After leading the Philly Aztecs to the Final Four and dominating the showcase he’s making a strong case as the top point guard for the Class of 2015 going into the new season.

Check out the highlights

Basketball Spotlight Super Showcase Profile: Ky Watts

Name: Ky Watts

Hometown: Freehold, NJ

Position: Shooting Guard

Class: 2015

Showcase Report: Watts is very young in terms of the basketball game. He’s a fluid athlete that has decent range but must really work on his strength and skill set. He has a long road ahead of him but with hard work he could become a good player.

Basketball Spotlight Super Showcase Profile: Zachery Torres

Name: Zachery Torres

Hometown: Carteret, NJ

Position: Point Guard

Class: 2015

Showcase Report: Torres has some ability in terms of playing the point guard position. But I think he needs to be more assertive at times. He looks like he will have good size and ball handling skills. He also moon lights as a quarterback on the pop warner level.

Introducing: Isaiah Daniel Washington

Name: Isaiah Daniel Washington

AAU Team: Antioch Truth

Hometown: Williamsport, Pennsylvania (Home of the Little League World Series)

Position: Point Guard

Breakdown: Many people know Williamsport, PA as the home of the Little League World Series but apparently they have a basketball stud about to enter high school. Meet Isaiah Washington a 6’3 point guard that is oozing with potential. Recently he ripped up the Hoop Group Jr. Elite Camp and took home MVP honors. Right now the counselors at the camp have him rated as a mid to high major prospect. After looking at some of his footage I can understand why. This winter he is expected to start varsity for Williamsport High School. It won’t be long before the colleges begin calling.

Basketball Spotlight Super Showcase Profile: Dylan Yerkes

Name: Dylan Yerkes

Hometown: Mt. Laurel, NJ

Position: Combo Guard

Class: 2016

Showcase Report: Yerkes can flat out shoot the rock. Once he sets up behind the arc he’s capable of nailing multiple treys. I think this youngster should work on running a team and ball handling.

Basketball Spotlight Super Showcase Profile: DeAnte Bruton

Name: DeAnte Bruton

Hometown: New London, CT

Position: Point Guard

Class: 2015

Showcase Report: In showcase events most players succeed by being aggressive and Bruton must have received the memo. The southpaw was everywhere on the floor and played every game like it was his last. I like the way he uses the floater and the quickness he possesses. We will keep an eye on his progress.

Basketball Spotlight Super Showcase Profile: John Salcedo

Name: John Salcedo

Hometown: Little Silver, NJ

Position: Combo Guard

Class: 2016

Showcase Report: John plays a lot bigger than his size. He plays either guard position but doesn’t mind getting rough with the post players while battling for rebounds. He can shoot the outside well but also is a stubborn defender. We will follow him a little more next season when he hits the floor with the NJ Shore Shots.

Basketball Spotlight Super Showcase Profile: Muharrim Haque

Name: Mahurrim Haque

Hometown: Alexandria, VA

Position: Forward

Class: 2015

Showcase Report: The 6’0 Haque has good length playing the wing. His coach Gary Battle was impressed with his intensity “It was pleasure coaching Mahurrim because you have to appreciate a kid that plays with so much passion”. Hague also looks like he has a chance to shoot up a few more inches. Of course he must continue to work hard and get stronger.

Hometown: Harrisburg, PA

Position: Forward

Class: 2016

Basketball Spotlight Super Showcase Profile: Anthony Wright

Name: Anthony Wright

Hometown: Trenton, NJ

Position: Forward

Class: 2015

Showcase Report: Wright plays the forward spot but will have to transition to a guard if he doesn’t have a huge growth spurt. He has decent touch around the basket but must become more active on the floor. The good thing is that he’s still a youngster and has time to improve.

Basketball Spotlight Super Showcase Profile: Maurice Brand

Name: Maurice Brand

Hometown: Orange, NJ

Position: Point Guard

Class: 2015

Showcase Report: Brand likes to score but he has to become a point guard soon. Right now he handles the ball with confidence and is capable of making good decisions. On the next level he will need to improve his conditioning which will help him become quicker on both ends of the floor.
