Akil Watson

The Class of 2023 participated in their final Spotlight event at the Future Phenom Camp. Here are the top performers from this event.

Future Phenom Camp Class of 2023 Top Performers Part 1

Akil Watson Guard (NY)- Watson  is 6’7 wing and was our most efficient player. Watson is a willing passer that puts his teammates in easy positions to score; His length makes it easy to shoot over shorter defenders. Watson can score from all three levels and with his improved athleticism. That helps him finish at the cup with ease. Akil was selected as the camp MVP and Best Prospect because of his well rounded game. In the upcoming future we see Watson moving to the lead guard position. He will also be one of the top prospects in the class when the national rankings come out. Watson will be attending the prestigious Don Bosco Prep NJ as an incoming freshmen.

Kendric Diaz Guard (MA)- Kendric was one more intriguing prospects. His ability to finish at the cup was tremendous. Diaz has a very good midrange game and is streaky from the three point line. We like his willingness to play defense and get his teammates involved in the game. Diaz will make his mark as an incoming freshmen.
Bryce Cash Forward (NC)- Bryce is a wing that has a great frame to absorb contact while attacking the rim. Bryce is also a great finisher around the rim. He is a tremendous rebounder that is willing to go inside and bang with much bigger players. We really liked his motor and his willingness to play on both sides of the floor.
Owen Moreira Forward (MA)- Owen is a wing and a very intriguing prospect because of his size and length. Moreira has the ability to finish around the rim and showed that all weekend. He finished with array of layups around the basket. His ability to absorb contact and still finish is tremendous; Owen is also a very tough player that does not back down from anyone.
Evenson St. Franc Forward (MA)- Evenson is an athletic wing that loves to attack the rim. We saw his explosive ability to get to the rim and finish with tremendous dunks. He is a fearless competitor that seems to be always ready for battle; He is super confident on the court and willing to play both sides.
Toriyan Johnson Forward (MA)- Toriyan stands around 6’9 and is tremendous load around the basket. He showed flashes of what he could be. Johnson has the ability to finish around the basket with both hands. As his motor develops we believe that the game will become much easier for him.
Franklin Ayssi-Etoh Guard (MD)- Franklin is a combo guard that has a very good all around game. Etoh has a great motor and is relentless on offense. His ability to knockdown the outside shot helps him to get to the rim with ease. We really liked his ability to defend most positions. He could have easily been a top five player in the camp.
