Basketball Spotlight Tip Off Classic 8th Grade Top Performers Part 3

Dwayne Pierce

The Basketball Spotlight Tip Off Classic 8th Grade Division is loaded with talent and here’s our final look at the Top Performers.

Basketball Spotlight Tip Off Classic 8th Grade Top Performers Part 3

Dwayne Pierce Guard (Rising Stars NY) – Pierce could have arguably been the best player in the 8th grade division. He is a versatile do it all player that can play all three perimeter positions. He is at his best with the ball in hands as he seems to always make the right play either scoring or making the right pass. He can score from all three levels, rebounds his position, can be the primary ball handler, and can defend multiple positions. He has a high school ready body. Dwayne finished with 17 points in the game we watched.

Kabrien Goss Guard (TTown Ballers) – Goss is a bucket getter. He is a sturdy built scoring point guard that has one thing on his mind and that is getting a bucket. In basketball if you outscore your opponent you win the game and that is what Kabrien tries to do. He has range out past the 3-point line and can finish around or through length at the rim. He is always putting pressure on the defense attacking off the dribble. He finished with 19 points including 3 three pointers in the game we saw.
Luke Billings Guard (NJ Shore Shots) – Billings is a wing guard that plays hard on both ends of the floor. He does a little bit of everything to help his team win. He does most of his damage inside the three-point line. We like his motor and energy and his ability to guard on the defensive end. He finished with 15 points in the game we watched.
Jashawn Brazile Forward (Hilltoppers Heat) – Brazile is a lefty power forward with a soft touch around the rim and from the charity stripe. He knows how to play to his strengths and doesn’t do anything that he can’t do making him very effective. He has a strong body and can rebound and start the break by pushing the rock. He tallied 12 points in the game we watched.
Philip Unangst Forward (Hilltoppers Heat) – Philip is a long wing forward that plays hard. He crashes the glass helping his tram rebound. His best skill is his 3-point shot which is so big in today’s game. He is at his best in catch and shoot situations but can also attack from the wing off the dribble. He scored 10 points in the game we watched.
Jahmire Brewer Forward (Riverside Hawks) – Brewer was one of the top big men in the 8th grade division. If he didn’t get in foul trouble early against Expressions, they would have probably won the game they lost by 1 point. He was unstoppable around the basket using his big strong athletic frame to punish the opposing team. He rebounded and scored around the rim at will. If he didn’t convert, he was getting fouled and going to the free throw line. He scored 19 points making 7 out of 9 free throws.
Braylan Ritvo Forward (Riverside Hawks) – Braylan is a fluid wing forward that has a bright future. He has good size and plays hard on both ends of the floor. He is more of a slasher right now attacking the basket off the dribble from the wing or finishing in transition. He is a good rebounder and is effective on the defensive ends also.
Nathan Waithe Forward (CIA Bounce) – Waithe could be the next prospect that we will hear about coming out of Canada. He is a skilled point forward that is a playmaker. He passes the ball at a high level and can stroke the three. We love his demeanor, high basketball IQ, and the intangibles that he brings to the floor. He scored 14 points including 4 three pointers in the game we watched.
