WGL Energy To Green The Tip Off Classic!

Basketball Spotlight has partnered with WGL Energy Services, Inc. (WGL Energy) to green the Basketball Spotlight Tip Off Classic. WGL Energy has donated enough carbon offsets to counterbalance conference emissions from energy use at the event space, hotel stays, food and land-filled waste.

This is equivalent to:

• Taking 6 cars off the road for one year, or
• Avoiding the consumption of over 3,263 gallons of gasoline, or
•  Planting over 752 tree seedlings that grow for 10 years.

Carbon offsets are an affordable and innovative way to counterbalance emissions resulting from everyday activities such as travel and energy use. Carbon Offsets from WGL Energy specifically are Green-e® Climate certified and derived from verified carbon reduction projects in the waste management sector, which capture and destroy methane from regional landfills. Even better for the environment, WGL Energy invests a portion of the proceeds into the Carbon Reduction Fund, managed by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and used to develop new projects, such as tree plantings, to improve air and water quality in the region and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Since 2010, the Carbon Reduction Fund has supported numerous projects, including the planting of over 19,000 trees throughout Maryland.

Super Skillcase Profile: Al-Fatir Connor (Roselle, NJ)

Name: Al-Fatir Connor

Hometown: Roselle, NJ

Class: 2021

Position: Point Guard

Analysis: The scrappy point guard pressured the rock the full 94 feet while causing havoc. Offensively, he picked his spots well while displaying his drive, draw and dish game. The pint size point guard has been able hold his own against some of the best guards in the region.

Super Skillcase Profile: Dameon Samuels (Ewing, NJ)

Name: Dameon Samuels

Hometown: Ewing, NJ

Class: 2021

Position: Shooting Guard

Analysis: Samuels continues to improve each time I see him rock. He was focused and proved he was a hard worker during the drill session. When the games started he got things done on both ends of the floor. He plays good on the ball defense and will run the floor before finishing in transition.

Diary Of A Baller: Trey Patterson (Somerset, NJ) Final Entry

Trey Patterson and His Father Antoine

Hello Basketball World,

This is Trey Patterson signing back in for my final entry of ‘Diary of a Baller’.

On Monday, it was a pretty light day for me. After school, I had an orthodontist appointment and I got my rubber bands put in. For about the first two days, they were hurting so much, but after that I started getting used to them.
