Diary Of A Baller: Dwayne "Djay" Snead (Bensalem, PA) Entry #5

The measure of who we are is how we react to something that doesn’t go our way.” ~ Gregg Popovich

Yooo Basketball Spotlight World,

It’s DJay and I’m back with my 5th submission of Diary of A Baller. This week was very good. I hope you enjoy this week’s diary!!

Sunday ~ Notice how beautiful it was outside today? I hope you were able to get out! I got a chance to work on my handles outside and go to the park with my family. Before going to the park, we started to clean up the house while listening to Hot 97 radio station. Once we got to the park, my brother was running with Apollo and my mom. I worked on my transition jumpers, and my PNR moves with my PowerHandz Pop-Up Defenders while my dad was rebounding. After I finished my workout, I ended up playing against my brother before we left. When we left the park, I started playing the game around 3:00 p.m. with my brother until around 5:00 p.m. Then I helped make dinner with my mom, and I finished off the night by watching “Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse” with the family.

Monday ~ I woke up feeling tired, but once I got in the shower I felt better. I started my day by making a smoothie and having a banana for breakfast. School went by fast because of the half days I have this week. After school I went outside and jogged a mile, before going to the park. I went to the park to work on my shooting, and finishing skills. I was at the park for about an hour and a half before I had to go back home to get ready for lacrosse practice. I got to practice, and we worked on game play for my game scheduled for tomorrow. I didn’t have any workouts because the gym is set up for AP exams this week. By the time I got home it was around 5:30 p.m., I chilled and then started my homework. I didn’t finish until 7:00 p.m., so once I finished my homework I ate dinner. After eating dinner, I watched the Sixers beat the Bulls. I finished my night off by playing Warzone with Christian until it was bedtime.

Tuesday ~ I woke up this morning feeling good! I did my usual in the morning, then I started to work on my handles before school. I don’t know how school went by so fast, but that could be the fact that I was hype for my 2nd lacrosse game against The Hun School. I got to school at 2:15 p.m., so we could ride the bus over to the Hun School. My team was doing good, we were tied going into the half, but we ended up losing at the end. My season was overall fun, and I was glad to play with my friends this year. I stayed after the game to watch a little bit of my Big Cousin, Tyler’s practice because he plays football and lacrosse for Hun. By the time I got home, I started to help make dinner. My family had steak and mashed potatoes, and dinner was amazing. After dinner, I stretched and finished up some homework. I finished off the night by watching Netflix, and eating cookies and cream ice cream.

Wednesday ~ I had another training session with Coach Dana at 6:00 a.m. today. I had a recovery day with my shoulder. I worked on strengthening different parts of my shoulder, and was shown new stretches to use. Me and my parents received a phone call from my AAU Coach, and he was telling us how we will be competing this summer! Broooo, I was so hype because I can’t wait to suit up and play. I started doing my little dancy dance in the living room as Coach Sean was on the phone. I took a nap after talking about what tournaments we will be in this year. I woke up around 5:00 p.m., then finished my homework. After finishing my homework, I started to play the 2k21 with my friends from school. I ended off the night with eating ice cream, and playing the game.

Thursday ~ As I got to training I warmed up by running a mile. Today was leg day! I worked on the Vertimax, and my legs were on fire when I got back home. Once I got home I logged into school, then when school was over I started to workout. I was outside working on my handles until my dad came home from work. When my dad came home from work, we headed over to the courts to get some shots up. At the courts, I was working on my catch and shoot. I stayed at the courts until like 5 in the evening, I would say I was there for about 2 hours. When I got home I watched “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” with my little brother! My brother and I proceeded to help make dinner. Once dinner was complete, We started to watch “The New Legends of Monkey” while eating dinner. After the movie was over, I stretched, and worked on my handles for 30 minutes before going to bed.

Friday ~ I was sad because this is my last distance learning week of the year. No more half days sadly! My Lacrosse Coach told our team that we have another game next week. I was hype to hear that I would be playing one more game before the season ended. When I got home, I started working on my handles. After working on my hand eye-coordination, I started my homework. I finished my homework around 8 o’clock, and started to watch the Lakers play against the Trail Blazers. I went to watch a movie with my family. We made popcorn, and we watched “Raya and the Last Dragon.” Then I started watching “Safety” before we went to bed, and that movie gave me a different insight on how other people grow up. It was a great night spending time with my family again!

Saturday ~ I slept in this morning until around 11:30. I made some bacon for my brother and myself for breakfast with a glass of OJ. I had workouts at 3:15 p.m. with Jared. I shot on the Dr. Dish, and made 546 shots in 2 hours. I worked on my catch and shoot, one dribble pull up, and step backs. My arms were so tired after training, but tomorrow is all skill work! When I got home, I started a deep conditioner on my hair. You know I gotta stay looking fresh. Anyways, I started watching film, and I finished my hair. I had dinner while studying film, and I had homemade chicken wings. After dinner and finishing film study, I started to play Warzone with my little brother Christian until about midnight. Once me and my brother got off the game, we settled down, and watched a couple of episodes of “ZERO CHILL” to end the night.

See you guys next week on Diary of A Baller ~ You know how I do it!!
