Diary Of A Baller: Jordan Ghee (Totowa, NJ) Entry #5

Hello Basketball Spotlight Family!

It’s Jordan Ghee with my Diary of a Baller Part 5. I hope everyone had a great and safe week.

On Monday, I was back to my routine. We returned to school that day, so I got up and got on my computer to start classes. After school, I got an email from my Latin teacher saying that he would like me to participate in the National Latin Exam. It’s an honor to be invited so I decided to accept.

I woke up Tuesday and started my 400’s (sit-ups, push-ups, squats and calf raises). After virtual school ended at 1:00 p.m., I studied for my upcoming high school placement test (HSPT). Later that evening, I had a workout at a local gym. I got up a lot of shots, worked on attacking the basket and finishing at the rim.

Wednesday, after my classes ended, I completed my 400’s, studied for the HSPT and had tutoring. My regularly scheduled Wednesday basketball training session was cancelled because my trainer was out of town. Having the day off gave me an opportunity to let your body recover. I recently learned from a professional basketball player that recovery days are an important part of the process.

Thursday, after school, I completed homework and studied before my workout at 8:30 p.m. My workout consisted of ball-handling, floaters and shooting drills from everywhere on the court. After the workout, Mekhi and I, along with two of our coaches, played 4 on 4 with some older kids that were in the gym. It’s always good to play with older kids although we got home that night a lot later than usual.

Friday was a light day. I had school and then studied. After I finished my work, I had an opportunity to get on my PS5 until it was time for my basketball workout at 6:00 p.m. We spent a lot of time focused on speed work, then finished the training with shooting drills.

Saturday morning, I had another workout. We did competitive drills and then scrimmaged. Once I got back home, I decided to get ready for my birthday party at Top Golf. They had social distancing rules in place but we still had a lot of fun. We played golf games outside, but it was really warm because they had overhead heaters. A few of my family, friends and coaches joined me to celebrate my 14th birthday, which is January 14th. I destroyed all of them in all of the games we played (LOL)! Overall, I had a great birthday celebration! Top Golf was really fun and I can’t wait to go back.

On Sunday, I had practice with PSA from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. We had a great practice but, at the end of practice my teammates and coaches decided to gang up on me to give me my birthday punches even though my birthday is on the 14th. Once I got home, I rested and then studied for the HSPT. Before bed, I got on my PS5.

Thanks for reading. I hope everyone has a great week.
