Little Ballers Premiers On Nickelodeon February 25th

Basketball Spotlight is proud to announce Little Ballers will be released February 25th on Nickelodeon. Set against the backdrop of New York City, LITTLE BALLERS tells the story of 4 diverse eleven-year old boys and their legendary coach as they set out to win an AAU National Championship. For these young men, basketball is more than a game. It is a deep passion that holds a special meaning for each of them: escaping poverty, getting an education, living the American dream and bonding with a father, but more than anything, basketball offers them hope. 

LITTLE BALLERS features interviews with NBA players Amar’e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, Steve Nash, Russell Westbrook, Joakim Noah, Walt Frazier, Tyson Chandler, JR Smith, Chamique Holdsclaw and includes perspectives from NY Times columnist William C. Rhoden, Award-Winning journalist Roland Martin, Black Enterprise President and CEO Butch Graves, Rogue Sports agent Travis King, ESPN senior writer Pablo Torre and HBO Sports Senior VP Kery Davis among others.

Bryan Antoine scored 15 points and Tariq Ingraham 13 points as #2 Team RIO National defeated #3 Harlem Jets 59-38 to win the Basketball Spotlight Winter Warz 8th Grade Orange Division Championship. Elijah Wenn scored 12 points for Harlem Jets in the loss. Basketball Spotlight would like to congratulate both teams for making it to the finals.

The Team Rio star showed his improved athleticism and had the best highlight of the first day of Winter Warz when he dunked on a defender on the break. Diary Of A Baller: Judah McIntyre (New York, NY) Entry #7

Judah McIntyre At The White House 

Wassup World, I’m back this week preparing for BBallspotlight’s Winter Warz and gearing up for my report card which I get on Thursday. 

Monday, was a great day because I got out of school early because of the “historic blizzard” that was suppose to happen. Since, this was the first day back since we came from D.C, the teachers didn’t assign us much homework. So, I ended up going and staying over at my friends house while it snowed. We had a huge football game in the snow and went sledding after which was really fun. 

Tuesday, we had no school and since the blizzard was not as historic as they said it would be, I ended up being picked up from my friends house and going back home. Since, I had no homework and my parents could not take me anywhere, I decided to help shovel around my house and on my street. After, I started to work on my handle in my basement. I did different drills in my basement working on my control and speed in my handle. Later, I watched some TV and that was the end of my day. 

Wednesday, it was a pretty good day in school besides for the fact that I had to recite a poem that I did not memorize. Thank­ God, it was not the actual recitation day, so, I had a night to go home and memorize it. Later, I had practice at school and it was a solid practice. But after, I was able to work with myself on my game. I was able to get a lot of shots and work on my mid­range jump­shot. Later, I went home to memorize this spoken­ word poem that I had the official reciting on Thursday. 

Thursday, I had to dress­ up and perform my poem in front of half my grade. The poem was “I apologize” by Oscar Brown Jr. I was told by viewers and my teachers that I was very well­spoken and I performed very well. Later that day, I had a one hour workout with my school team and it was good because because we worked alot on defense which I need to work on a lot. That night, I stayed to watch my Varsity team play. We played a team that we were suppose to blow out but we ended up beating them.. I watched my youngbul Jalen Carey, hit the game winning three to put us up by 1 as the game ended. It was good to watch the freshmen players be productive and bringing the team to victory because i see myself being that position next year as a freshmen. 

Friday, I had no regular classes and It was a really fun and easy day. I got out of school early because of my game. The school we played was not good and we ended up winning by 40. I only played 6 minutes and i ended up with 11 assists which I thought was pretty good. 

Saturday, It was a really light day and since everyone in my family was out the house, I was left to clean, which I think every kid does not like doing. After, I went to my sisters game and surprisingly they both played pretty well. Later that day, I did not doing anything but relax. 

Sunday, I had RENS practice from 12­-2, we worked on skill development along with getting ready for next week’s tournament. I went back home and got ready for the Super Bowl Party I was going to. The party ended up being extremely fun and my team(the Patriots) won which I was really happy about. I also had ALOT of great food which is always good to have and that was the end of my week.

Four Spotlight Alums Make McDonald's All American Game

On Wednesday four Basketball Spotlight Alums were selected for the 2015 McDonalds All American Game. We are extremely proud of Isaiah Briscoe, Malachi Richardson, Perry Dozier Jr. and Stephen Zimmerman. This is a huge accomplishment and you guys should be proud.

Isaiah Briscoe: This dominate force and former Diary Of A Baller put together the best 8th grade season in Spotlight history. After taking home POY honors he went on to have a stellar high school and AAU career. Last summer he led the Playaz Basketball Club to the EYBL championship. He’s currently listed as the #1 point guard in the country.

Malachi Richardson: This former Diary Of A Baller is perhaps the best shooter to enter our events. At a young age Richardson starred with the Gauchos, Youth Interlock and Team Final. In high school he won the TOC crown as a sophomore and helped Team Final become one of the best teams on the EYBL.

Perry Dozier Jr.: Dozier had crazy buzz when he made his Spotlight appearance as a 6th Grader with the Columbia Slammers. The smooth shooting guard and playmaker played with a national rep for most of his career. He returned from knee injury and regained his form as one of the top players in the country.

Stephen Zimmerman: Zimmerman came thru with that loaded Cali Styles squad that blew the doors off the Clash For The Cup. The long lefty remained one of the top ranked players in the country and has very big name school in America chasing him.

Diary Of A Baller: Judah McIntrye (New York, NY) Entry #7

Judah At MLK Monument

Hello Basketball World, 

Monday, I woke up and started to appreciate MLK Jr. Because without him and other pioneers in the Civil Rights Movement, I would not be afforded the same opportunities that I have had today. During the day, I hung out with my little brothers Cole and Bryce. After, I went home to get ready for my trip to Washington DC. 

Tuesday, I left for my class trip to DC. It was a 4 hour drive which felt like 7. When we got there we went to the space museum, which was pretty cool and we got to see space shuttles and a variety of planes that were used at one point in our history. After, went to see a play called "Sheer Madness" it was really funny, surprisingly, and we had a fun time. 

Wednesday, we went to Arlington National Cemetery. Where, we remembered our lost soldiers and commemorated the deaths of the unknown soldiers. Afterwards, we went to the Luray Caverns, which was really cool. Then we went to see the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, and lastly we saw the internationally known and historic Lincoln Memorial. I've always seen it in movies and recognized it's significance but never saw it in person. I also got to stand on the exact spot where Martin Luther King made his famous, "I Have a Dream Speech", which created a better life for future African ­American children along with future other cultures. Which I am more than grateful for. 

Thursday, We went to George Washington's house (Mount Vernon) which was much cooler than I thought. Later that day we had a tour of the Capitol building and was able to meet and talk with multiple senators and representatives in government. But, the Capitol building has its own history in itself which I didn't know before. I got to listen in on some issues that congress are working out as we speak. It was really cool. 

Friday, it was the last day in DC unfortunately. In the morning before we left, we went to the Newseum, where we saw every major news story that's happened in America (I think) After, we went to the White House to take pictures. Then, it was back home. 

Saturday, was a really chill day, except for the fact that I wasn't home for the week so, I had many chores to do. Once, I finished that we went to church and went out to dinner.

Sunday, I went to see my future wife.. Skylar Diggins, again! I went to her basketball skills camp with my little bro. Cole, and my 2 twin sister. Cole and I were the only guys in the camp but we got some good work in and Skylar Diggins was talking to us for a lot of the camp. I also did some drills with her, and I realized she works extremely hard. It was a pretty good workout and Ilearned a lot about my eating habits as a athlete. After, I got ready for this major storm that's suppose to come.
